Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop

I like traveling on trains, not just for the A to B aspect or the company you meet. But for the backdrop that accompanies the journey. Some people call it graffiti but really there is no truer form of art. It is self expression and political statements done by some truly talented people without the pretentious art gallery opening,  name dropping and ridiculous price tags it is kids practising an art they will use their whole life, using their voice.

This Sunday ACMI’s cinema seats turn into a train seat and commence screening the much anticipated movie about a scene most of us can only try to understand. Filmed by the curious and courageous cousin of space invader, the film gets down and dirty with the some of the worlds most famous “artist”. Melbournes art and marketing scene have got behind the film and are doing some question and answer sessions that will surely stick it to the man about who owns this towns empty canvas’s.

The pre-pitch itch

What better time to write of the pre-pitch night antics than pre pitch night itself.

One: you get to find out who is also pitching by sending emails to all your friends and finding out who is still at the office.

Two: youtube has never worked so hard.

Three: threethousand offers the best of itself when you need it most.

Four: the ache is not one of the head just yet, but more of a stumoch churn thanks to the best international local takeaway.

Five: watching the beads of sweat drip from the creatives head, thanks to the excessive amounts of fine red wine being consumed

six: planning the night that will never happen over facebook, twitter and text.

and lastly finishing everything, binding the doco and just waiting to get into a pre warmed bed thanks to the lovely ducks in the floor

Come Dine with Pea

Masterchef, Come dine with me and My Kitchen Rules are responsible for hack cooks all over Melbourne attempting to create their own “unique” recipes, my housemate is unfortunately fallen under this spell. They are also responsible for inspiring a young bunch of Melbourne peeps who have invented a little competition amongst friends with a weekly cook off with a twist. The group of 10 were split into couples and told they must serve a 3 course meal to feed 10. But each dish must have Pea as an ingredient. Some dishes to e served up so far are; gnocchi with Napoli/pea sauce, Lamb cutlets with pea puree and Wasabi peas encrusted Flathead tails. All in all it is a great twist that gets the boys cooking up some Gastronomic delights rather than playing B-Ball outside of the school!

We all love Music and Music loves us all. That is why a couple of Melbourne boys have decided to dedicate a fair chunk of there time creating an amazing site about Melbourne music and Music that affects Melbourne. They have an event on this Wednesday that is definetely worth attending so get your act together and E-mail this guy to get on the list (say you’re with youngbloods)

Globe head office goes off the rails

1 Fennel street has recently been transformed into the new head office for Globe melbourne. With a freshly sandpapered skate park the kids flocked down to show off there new skills, threads and kicks. Falling in love seemed to be the perfect topic for the night, be it beautiful ladies, cute skater boys, the BMX in the corner or the globe brand itself.

Typical to a completely rad warehouse party there was broken toilet doors, the coolest Holden GT and plenty of fixies parked out the front.

The biggest moment of the night was a pretty little b girl copping a flying skateboard to the face creating a CSI loking scene next to the vert ramp.

Lessons to all! take up all invites and awesomeness will happen.

Groovin and a mooing

The old fashioned town of bendigo holds host to the an old fashioned good time on the first saturday of may each year. This years good time was headlined by everyones favourite Vampire weekend with help from Silver Chair, Spoon, Tegan&Sara and plenty of other funpunching bands.

Tips:

If you miss out on a music festival it is not far for those who went to rub it in by saying how amazing it was and how much fun they had dancing to your favourite song in the sunlight. So I instead of saying these things I am going to offer tips so you can be them next year.

1) get your tickets early. like real early. borrow (steal mums) a credit card.

2) Book acommodation probably before you buy your ticket. (even if you miss out you can still have a lovely weekend in bendigo!)

3) cut lines (you didn’t here it from me) but walk up and down untill you find a primary school friend and rekindle that friendship! (food is a great line-buy-in)

4) dress approriately - Bendigo is worse than melbourne; it is freezing at night, boiling during the day and you never know when rain, wind or floods (a bit extreme) are going to come from.

5) don’t bring your phone: or at least dont bother trying to use it. embrase the fact you will loose your friends and run around like a loner for a while. this means you can meet new people who also prefer to get stuck in a giant mosh pit waiting for vampire weekend than listen to empire of the sun.

6) novelty costumes are to be left to the underagers. being the drunken cow that has her teet failing out is only comical to those who aren’t the cow

7) don’t be organised as the best times come from the least planned moments. like the half our walk that went for 2 hours (this included pink bikes, lawn bowls, olympic photos and wicked skid marks)

8) …….. don’t follow my rules and you’ll still have just as much fun
